Quote I found in my journal

“The Earth does not belong to man, man belongs to the Earth. All things are connected like the blood that unites us all. Man did not weave the web of life, he is merely a strand in it. Whatever he does to the web, he does to himself.”

  1. This quote reminds me of how I ought to learn more about the history of the Seattle area. So many of the locations around here are named for native American tribes and chiefs who took good care of the land before settlers from the east came and urbanized it. I’m tired of not knowing who they were!

Maybe I’ll go to the library and look into what sort of books they have about local regional history. Or Wikipedia. There’s always Wikipedia.

  2. I agree, I should try to read more about the history of this area. It’s too easy to think it isn’t important, but now there is this book I may have talked to you before about called Manahatta. It’s pretty cool to have visual representations of what Manhattan might have looked like.

And Wikipedia is amazing. It still stuns me how it is so thorough and generally well written, and how it represents real-time evolution of information!
